Valerie Mathason

Valerie Mathason – Kindergarten Teacher

“Mrs. M” rejoins our Gardner staff as the Kinder teacher, filling in for Ms. Camilla while she is on family leave.  She was a substitute teacher this past year, and previously taught our 3rd/4th grade class during the 2015-16 school year.  Her family is finally moved here permanently from Pennsylvania.  She was born in West Virginia, then her family moved, and she was raised in the little village of Brave, in the southwest corner of Pennsylvania; a small town much like Gardner. She is a middle child, with an older and younger brother. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Penn State University.  Her husband ’s love of hunting has brought them to Colorado, as he has been travelling here to hunt for several years. Finally, after convincing her to visit a few years ago, she too fell in love with the mountains and the wonderful people here.

She is once again excited to be a part of the staff at Gardner School, and is looking forward to a wonderful school year.  Valerie and her husband, Michael, have three children, Emily, Michelle, and Derek, and two spoiled dogs, Mollie and Stella.
