Gardner Bus

Early this morning we had a small bus roll over on Hwy 69 while on its way toward Walsenburg. 3 high school age children were on the bus. It is believed that all students and the bus driver are ok. I do not have an official report on the injury status as yet.
I do know the bus transporting kids to Gardner school has arrived safely and school will be in session.
When I receive all the facts to process and make another statement, I shall do so.

This incident will very likely affect our transportation routes between Gardner and Walsenburg since our bus is totaled. We will be discussing bus route plans as soon as possible in order to determine what adjustments will have to be made.

Reports have come to me that of the 3 students some suffered different lacerations on the bodies/face, bruising, possible pelvic injury and a student has cracked or broken ribs.

More updates will be provided as information comes in.

Hey Parents/Guardians..Help is on the way ! Huerfano Re-1 School District is very pleased and excited to offer some Family Engagement Nights for parents that may need some guidance. tips and a little help with issues they are seeing at home and/or school. We are partnering with Health Solutions personnel to bring these evenings to our schools.

Elementary and Junior High Parents are cordially invited to attend our 1st meeting on Tuesday evening, Feb.18 at Peakview 5:15-6:15 PM. A mtg for Junior High Parents and HS parents will be held on February 25th at JMHS (Junior High Parents can attend either Peakview or JMHS meetings) A flyer promoting these meetings should be posted tomorrow.

As a parent, I certainly understand the many issues we all can possibly face and perhaps are currently facing.
We want your input at the 1st meeting as to what issues or problems you may desire more information about other than the often suggested topics listed below.

*Refusing adult directives from parents and teachers
* Showing Respect and dignity to all (fellow students, parents, teachers etc.)
*Self-control of anger, inappropriate language directed at others
* Motivation- Students caring about school work
* Self-image
* “messy” divorces and how to keep the kids from being affected
* setting appropriate boundaries including cell phone usage and screen-time

I am proud to present these evenings and I am hopeful that you will be present. Thank you.
