The School Board supports the concept that tradition is an important component in the development of school pride, culture, and community spirit.
The Board directs that the school colors for Washington Intermediate School, Peakview School, and John Mall Junior/Senior High School shall be and remain purple and white. The colors for Gardner School shall be and remain green and white.
For the purpose of uniforms, the primary colors of purple and white may be accented with black or grey trim or border. At Gardner School, the primary colors of green and white may be accented with gold trim or border. A uniform is defined as “what the athletes wear on the field or court for pre-game warm-up, during the game, and when they exit the court or field.” The LOGO and the name of “John Mall High School” must be in the school colors, purple and white. Any new orders of uniforms, sweats, or anything that is going to be worn by the athletes will need to be passed by the athletic director and approved by the principal. It is understood that there may be some exceptions. If there are disagreements about the uniforms with the coach and athletic director, then the issue will go to an athletic committee that will be made-up of the athletic director, out-of-season head coach, a parent and a community person.
Any coach, activity sponsor, or staff person ordering uniforms that do not comply with the above requirements will be personally responsible for paying for these uniforms and they may not be utilized for any school district activity/athletics.
Clubs that have state or nationally approved colors (i.e. FFA, FBLA, etc.) are exempt from the above, but may not adopt a local color deviating from the national or state color other than those school specific colors approved above.
Any uniforms purchased before the adoption of this policy, which do not comply with the above requirements, shall be worn until they are no longer usable.
