Insurance Program/Risk Management
The Board has the responsibility for maintaining an adequate insurance program covering its buildings and grounds, fleet of school buses and employees carrying out official duties for the district. The Board also may authorize and participate in insurance programs for students.
Additionally, the Board shall purchase liability insurance and errors-and-omissions insurance to protect its members individually and collectively for claims made against them as a result of their membership on the Board.
The Board shall review its insurance program periodically and shall designate specific insurance companies to underwrite the various insurance plans approved by the Board.
The insurance program shall be administered by the superintendent.
The administration shall make every effort to obtain insurance at the best available rates–consistent with required coverage and service–through obtaining quotations or bids.
