Student Enrollment Information
Returning Student Enrollment:
Parents/Guardians can register students who finished the 23-24 school year or who are pre-registered in Huerfano School District Re-1 by logging into their PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Registration can only be done in a PowerSchool parent account.
Note: The above document explains the process;
If you have not used your parent account, the parent/guardian NEEDS to know their web access ID and password, which is found on the student’s printed schedule, on a report card or ask the office to assist in finding this information.
After logging into PowerSchool
- Click on Forms in the left navigation.
- Complete all forms under District Registration.
- Update other information by completing forms under the Updates Section.
New Student Enrollment:
This is for NEW students to Huerfano School District Re-1 for the 2024-2025 School Year.

Resident Students
Please note: Your child must be five years old on or before June 1, of the current year in order to be enrolled in Kindergarten for the CURRENT school year.
- Take the following documentation to the school where you enrolled your child:
- Birth certificate.
- Proof of residency (utility bill, rental or lease contract, home purchase contract, etc.).
- Immunization Records - Colorado law requires all students attending Colorado schools and licensed child cares to be vaccinated against certain diseases unless a medical or non-medical exemption is filed. For more information about vaccine requirements, resources and exemptions, please visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s School Immunization page.
- Current copy IEP Plan and 504 Plan (if applicable).
- No fees or fines are due to your child's previous school (withdrawn in good standing).
- Legal custodial arrangements (Huerfano School District Re-1 nor its staff cannot give any legal advice)
- Divorce decree with guardianship rights.
- If the student is not residing with his/her legal guardians, a Delegation of Custodial Power Form must be filed with the school requested.

All steps above must be completed before enrollment can be finalized.
Once the school has approved the enrollment form, you will receive an email with information regarding access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Non-Resident Students:
- Complete the the Online Registration Form - http://enrollment.huerfano.k12.co.us
- Follow the process for Resident Students as outlined above.
- Communicate with the school that your student is out of district.
- Enrollment may be closed to non-resident students based on class size.
- Transportation to and from school must be provided by the parents. School Buses are not available to non-resident students.
Once the school has approved the enrollment form, you will receive an email with information regarding access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

PRESCHOOL PARENTS:
- Once UPK opens, you will first need to access that site to fill out a State Application at upk.colorado.gov
- After parents complete the State Application with UPK, your second step will be to complete the New Student Enrollment (2024-2025) for Huerfano School District Re-1.
