Accessibility Statement
Huerfano School District Re-1 is dedicated to ensuring that its website is accessible to all members of the community, including students, parents, and individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA conformance standard set by the W3C WAI, or any updated equivalents of these guidelines.
The District has begun a project to ensure that all digital services and content are accessible to all, in our effort to be in compliance with Colorado's House Bill ("Bill") 21-1110, also known as Colorado Laws For Persons With Disabilities. This law has strengthened state discrimination laws for individuals with disabilities to ensure that all individuals have access to digital content created by local government entities, including websites, applications, documents, and more. Per the Bill, the district must comply with the most recent web content accessibility guidelines promulgated and published. The adopted standard for accessibility is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 AA (WCAG 2.0 AA Guidelines).
We are committed to upholding the provisions of Section 504 and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This ensures that individuals with disabilities can independently access the same information, engage in interactions, and benefit from services within the same time frame and with equivalent ease of use as those without disabilities. Compliance with these provisions guarantees that individuals with disabilities are not excluded, denied benefits, or subjected to discrimination in any programs, services, or activities offered on our website.
Section 504 protects qualified individuals from discrimination based on their disability and forbids organizations and employers from excluding or denying individuals with disabilities an equal opportunity to receive program benefits and services.
Section 508 requires federally funded programs to provide accommodations for people with disabilities. To meet this commitment, we are consistently auditing our web pages to meet or exceed these standards. Our team is dedicated to creating digital experiences that are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability, going forward. We are committed to empowering people with disabilities by making our content seamless and easy to navigate.

Huerfano School District Re-1 continuously strives to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA conformance standards or their updated equivalents. This commitment applies to all new web content produced, published, uploaded, or updated by our district. We regularly test our website to ensure that all content is accessible to visitors and work to enhance our website's accessibility standards. Any non-compliant web pages will be promptly corrected.
